Housing as Human Right

The right of all human beings to decent housing, based on what is appropriate in each country, must be guaranteed. This is already enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Article 25 as well as in the UN-Social Covenant Article 11. In the UDHR, Article 25 (1)  it says: “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including […] housing […]and necessary social services […]“

In line with the human rights of housing it has been requested that the availability of sufficient living space is ensured along with the necessary infrastructure, power and  water supply.
